Cheese and Chocolate... Paris and Brugges

Hey friends!!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while, today was the first free day I've had in almost two weeks. I left Oxford early early early Friday morning to meet my parents in Paris. The rough morning of traveling began when it was down pouring as I was walking to the bus stop at 3 AM. The flight was uneventful, but when I got to Charles DeGaulle I had a really hard time navigating around and finding the cab I had booked to pick me up. After finally getting to the hotel and meeting up with my parents, it was time for some sight seeing!! We ended up purchasing the Paris museum pass so we were able to skip the queues and get straight inside! We visited Sainte-Chapelle, Notre Dame, and the Lourve on the first day and spent a lot of time walking around and catching up. That night, we ate at this super snooty french restaurant that specialized in dishes with truffles. I had the best ravioli in the who entire world there and I'm still dreaming about it!!

Sainte-Chapelle... as you can see, the stained glass windows were pretty spectacular!! They tell the stories of many of the books of the Bible.

Notre Dame Cathedral was gorgeous!! Plenty of things is see and learn about that I didn't really take any pictures!!

The Lourve was really interesting because we got to see some of the most famous pieces of art and sculptures. Even though everybody always says the Mona Lisa is disappointing because it is so small, it was a lot larger than what people made it out to be in my opinion.

Days two and three were filled with even more walking around, eating, and sight seeing. We went to a couple of different museums and saw Monet's Water Lilies and a few different pieces from Van Gough and Degase. Unfortunately, a majority of the museums do not allow pictures. Saturday night, we met up with Katelyn (my sorority big sister) who is currently studying abroad in Florence. It was really fun seeing her because we hadn't been together since the end of April!!

My dad and I started off our last day in Paris with a cup of hot chocolate at Angelina, one of the best places in the word according to a buzzfeed article. It was so insanely rich that I was full until late into the afternoon. A lady at the table behind us brought her dog in with her and it was sitting in the chair next to her. Quite funny!! We had a bit of time before we had to catch our train to Brugges so we walked over to the Eiffel Tower to check it out.

We spent less than 24 hours in Brugges, Belgium, but it was absolutely beautiful and we had a great day. We bought more than our fair share of chocolate, tried authentic Belgian waffles, and took a boat cruise through the canals that wind through the city.
 Made by Michelangelo...

I had an amazing weekend with my Parents, but this was just the start of our adventures together. Stay tuned for my post on Barcelona and London which should be up very soon!! Until then friends!!

xoxo
